Week Beginning 4th October

Mental Health Day. We made fruit kebabs and talked about the benefits of healthy eating on our mental health. Then, we completed some positive affirmation tasks and discussed the importance of self-confidence. Then, we did some mindfulness activities in order to relax and finished the day off with some exercise! What a wonderful day.

In English this week, we return to focusing on Paddington Bear, this time using the text 'Paddington's Post' where we have been learning more about letters. The first letter that we see in the book is one that Paddington has written to his Aunt Lucy to tell her all about his new home. We have been studying the features of a letter and retrieving information from the text. Then, we took on the role of Aunt Lucy and each thought about what she may say in response to Paddington's letter. Our aim of this topic is to write a letter back to Paddington from Aunt Lucy, using all of the relevant features we have discovered.

Following on from helping the Three Little Pigs last week, this week our Science experiment was to investigate safe and protective materials for Humpty Dumpty! We wrapped eggs in a variety of different materials, before testing to see whether they would be protected if dropped on the floor. Some of us then reported our findings back to Humpty!

This week, we have met Jigsaw Jo, who will be our PSHE assistant for the year! We discussed consequences and rewards and worked hard to think about how to behave in positive and helpful ways.
