Thoresby
Day One
For National School Sports Week, Thoresby Class have focused on the Paralympian, Lucas Prado. We discussed all of his achievements in running despite his disability of being visually impaired and focused on how he was able to achieve his fantastic medals by having a guide to support him during races.
The class worked well as a team to take in turns, one closing their eyes and the other person being their guide whilst they ran a short distance. We discussed how it made them feel and how brave and strong Lucas Prado is.
The children discussed the protected characteristic, disability, to focus on how everyone should be treated the same despite their disabilities and should receive equal opportunities.
SJR Football Coach
The children in Thoresby Class have really enjoyed the visit from SJR Coach, Matt! We developed our dribbling skills, understanding about space and where to position ourselves in order to receive the ball. Thoresby worked fantastically as a team and could communicate their positions well. Well done, Thoresby Class!
Day Two
During the second session, the children have really enjoyed continuing their learning about Lucas Prado. They discussed his strength and determination in order to achieve many great things, including running at a variety of distances.
The children continued to work with a guide but their trail was made trickier with some small obstacles for them to go over. Focusing on their ability to communicate with each other and use their arms to guide over each hurdle.
