Reading
We have been reading 'Fergal is Fuming' this week, learning more about the feeling of anger and how to calm down if we feel angry. We made some predictions and thought about what evidence we could use to support our ideas. We then spent time focusing on the language we found within the book and then answered questions about the layout and presentation of the text, before making inferences about some of the key events. Lots of reading skills covered this week!
We continue to focus on 'Fergal is Fuming', this week completing a range of VIPERS questions and sequencing the story. Some of us even accepted the challenge to summarise the whole story in less than 30 words! This was hard but we did it! We then made comparisons between this text and others, showing our understanding of what has been read by discussing similarities and differences between Fergal and other books. We identified differences in the text type, the content, the layout and presentation and the vocabulary used, but we also found similarities with other fiction texts and those that centred around emotions or controlling anger. We also noticed that a football book was similar as Fergal plays football too!
